I write books for middle grade kids and young adults. My debut novel, Fearless Freedom, tells the story of an eleven year old girl who participates in the 1963 civil rights campaign in Birmingham, Alabama. Although Fearless Freedom is a work of fiction, it is based on real events. Over a thousand children and teens were arrested and jailed for protesting against segregation during the Children’s Crusade in Birmingham.

I believe that diversity in children’s literature is important and like to support writers of color. Please visit my blog where I review great children’s books by a diverse group of authors.
